HISTORY

The Leadership Institute (LI) was founded in 1979 by Morton Blackwell to train conservatives to win. LI’s mission is to identify, recruit, train and place conservatives in politics, government, and media.

Morton knew the only way to train conservatives properly in the media was to create a real-world broadcast training facility. Funds were raised and the Sacher Multi-Media Center, which houses the Leadership Institute Studios, opened its doors in 1999.

Since then, LI Studios has distinguished itself as an award-winning, full service video production facility. Housed on the 4th floor of the Leadership Institute’s Arlington, Virginia campus, LI Studios is a major component of the Leadership Institute’s training facility.

The studios are climate-controlled and soundproofed. They include three studio cameras with teleprompters, a news set, a lighting grid, and a dedicated broadcast control room.

LI Studios’ edit suites feature the Avid Media Composer non-linear edit system, an industry leader in editing and post-production for both film and television.

Our portable camera equipment is used to tape events and interviews, both in and out of town.

These tools allow LI Studios to run media training schools, produce internal projects, and assist clients with video productions, garnering eleven industry awards in the process.

Since 1979, more than 55,000 students have graduated from LI’s unique seminars and workshops. Each year, our media and video production clients increase in number as word spreads about LI Studios’ work.

The Leadership Institute Studios strives for excellence, while never losing sight of LI’s mission: to identify, recruit, train, and place conservatives in politics, government, and media.
